Defective Children- Economy

They say we're facing a struggling Economy

With the value of the dollar falling businesses

Outsourcing over seas

To save a few bucks and increase profitability

Relying on our impulse to consume, regardless

Of the long term effects it has on personal prosperity

The price of gas is kicking the asses of America's

Poor and middle class we've been hit hard by that

Coupled with the rising cost of food, which wouldn't

Be such a problem if everyone grew it in their front lawns

So the question is will this ever change?

Well, change depends on direct action and not

Avoiding the facts and  rejecting ideologies rooted in

Mistakes of the past

I have a solution for the struggling Economy

Try not to buy anything manufactured in a different country

Purchase your produce from farmers who grow locally

Don't support industries that discourage worker's unions

Your children will thank you for having the dignity

To say "I've had enough!" and make at least a little effort

Even if it seems like one person has no influence

Or power but that's exactly what they want you to assume

In order to maintain the constant threat of impending doom

Until you're completely convinced the only way out of this

Pinch is depending on the elites and their stimulus checks

But I think we just need to use a little more common sense

The definition of immigrant is “a person who migrates to another country, usually for permanent residence.” Many people today who believe that immigration laws should be less strict than they currently are in the United States often say that “The United States was founded by Immigrants,” and therefore, the United States should be more welcoming to people coming in for other countries. People use this phrase to try to persuade others who do not wish to have more immigrants come to America, or want to have tighter boarders and guidelines for accepting immigrants. However, this country was not simply founded by average immigrants seeking better opportunities and freedom in a new land. This country was eventually populated by poor and middle class immigrants who just wanted a fair shake at life for their cultures and families, but the United States was not founded by immigrants; it was founded by invaders.

 

People tend to pick and choose what they want to accept and believe about the history of the United States. In school we are taught that the colonialists fought against Great Britain with the noble cause of liberty, and for freedom from Imperial reign. Little is ever mentioned about the near genocide of the Native American, slavery, and racially forced subordination of minority ethnic groups before and after the United States was founded. The United States also welcomed immigrants and had open boarders without regulation until the late 19th century. The North American Continent was homeland of the Native American Indian, and the United States government showed very little concern about their thoughts and feelings about the invasion of their home, and even forced them to live on non-sustainable reservations.

Citizenship should be given to everyone who wants to immigrate to the United States. This land should have never been property for the government or private citizens to control and decide who can come in or not. Not one Native American tribe had a word or concept for land ownership. The colonialists took advantage of the Natives’ technological and industrial weaknesses, as well as justifying their authority by arrogantly asserting that Native Americans are non-Christian savages who must be converted and assimilated to become civilized by European standards. Every human being has needs, is talented in some way, and many people across the globe still suffer from poverty and oppression. The United States should re-open it’s boarders to all immigrants, make them tax-paying citizens, and give them a better opportunity for higher education and quality of life. The United States as a nation should display the highest standard of kindness and compassion to other nations. If we welcome immigrants with open arms and treat them as equals with respect, than we would set a positive example and earn great admiration and respect from leaders and citizens of other Nations around the world.

Finding Common Ground: The Global Warming Debate

Global Warming is one of the most controversial issues in recent history. Many Environmentalists which include citizens, politicians (mostly liberal democrats), and political/non-profit organizations such as Greenpeace maintain that Global Warming is caused by the over consumption of coal, oil, and other toxic chemicals. Some scientific evidence supports these claims, but there is also some scientific evidence to support claims from skeptics of Global Warming who believe that rising temperatures and climate change around the world is part of the Earth’s natural cycle. Skeptics of Global Warming are usually conservative republicans who think Global Warming is merely part of the liberal agenda, and that the world does not need to make such dramatic reforms to industrial laws in order to protect the environment and halt climate change.

People at both sides of the issue have very passionate opinions and evidence that either proves that Global Warming is a problem that must be dealt with now or that Global Warming is not as big of a problem that it is hyped up to be. Neither the skeptics of Global Warming nor proponents have enough solid evidence to prove or debunk each other’s claims. The proponents truly believe that they are fighting for a good cause that will save the Earth and create a cleaner environment for future generations. On the other hand, skeptics of Global Warming and Climate Change are not necessarily apathetic and hate the environment as many Environmentalists may like to believe. Since there is no adequate proof to support the claims of either side, the next best thing for everyone is to decide on a “happy medium”  and find a common denominator that both parties can agree on.

Most people, regardless of their political affiliation or stance on Global Warming and the environment, do not like seeing trash lying around when they go on a trip to the mountains or the beach, or in their home town for that matter. If you ask around, most people would probably say that they desire clean air, water, and food free of toxins and poisons. Most people would agree that humanity needs to make some changes to make the planet a cleaner and healthier place.  If you asked those same people if they believed that Global Warming is a threat to the health of our planet and children's’ future, fewer would agree with each other about what side of the issue is wrong or right. Humanity in general has come a long way with how we treat each other and the planet since the dark ages. The vast changes many cultures and societies have already made to enhance the quality of life proves that most people these days want what is positive and best for their friends, families, and neighbors

Technological advancement is one modern achievement that has improved the quality of life around the globe. The heated debate over Global Warming would not be as much of an issue if people could agree that we should use green technologies simply to ensure that we have access to clean energy, water, and air now. Instead of attempting to force industries to accept strict environmental standards, those who believe Global Warming is a problem might have better results if they spent their time, money, and energy trying to influence people on a public level. Middle class and poor people cannot afford solar panels and wind turbines. Urban and low-economic cities and towns severely lack environmental reforms and action. Also, education and public awareness about the environment is a side issue that is not often discussed. Until one side of the Global Warming issue has enough substantial evidence to completely debunk the other side’s stance, there will always be a reason for raising questions and debate.Change rarely happens overnight, unless there is a critical mass of people that agrees on making any change.
